Faculty of Technology
Andalas University

The historical journey of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta) and the Food Technology and Agricultural Products Study Program (TPHP) is a manifestation of Andalas University's ongoing commitment to responding to developments in agricultural science and technology in Indonesia.

1954 – 1967
Initial Phase / Pioneering.

The origins of Fateta began four years after the inauguration of the Agricultural College in Payakumbuh on November 30, 1954. Agricultural mechanization began to be introduced in 1958 in the Department of Agronomy. In 1963, the field of agricultural products began to be developed, and finally in 1967, two official departments were formed, namely the Department of Agricultural Mechanization and the Department of Agricultural Product Technology (THP).

1974 – 2007
Consolidation Phase under the Faculty of Agriculture.

In 1974, both departments were transformed into majors. Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 130/Dikti/Kep/1984, the Department of Agricultural Mechanization and the Department of THP were merged into the Department of Agricultural Technology, which oversees the Agricultural Mechanization Study Program (TEP) and the THP Study Program. Plans to establish an independent faculty had been in place since 1986, but were delayed due to a national moratorium policy.

2008 – 2021
The Establishment and Expansion Phase of Fateta

Through the Director General of Higher Education Letter No. 1193/DT/2008, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology was officially established as an independent entity. This decision was reinforced by the Rector's Decree No. 943/III/A/UNAND/2008 dated May 15, 2008. Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Isril Berd, S.U. was appointed as the first Dean. Since then, May 15 has been celebrated as Fateta's anniversary. Development continued with the opening of the Agricultural Industrial Technology (TIP) undergraduate program in 2018.

2022 – Now
The Modernization and Transformation Phase of PTN-BH

Along with the change in status of Andalas University to PTN-BH, Fateta underwent organizational and academic transformation. In 2022, the THP study program was officially renamed Food Technology and Agricultural Products (TPHP), the TPHP Master's program was opened, and the departments were changed to departments. Currently, Fateta manages three departments that offer undergraduate and graduate education.
